Wonderful Three Weeks with POTA Volunteers

Once again this year, we were delighted to welcome the POTA volunteers. This time, they were Neža, Eva, Maja, and Gaja – students of art education, special education, primary teaching, and social work. The three weeks we spent together passed in the blink of an eye!

The volunteers created, sang, danced, and read stories (including the famous Maček Muri and Muca Copatarica) with our children, and taught them English, mathematics, and even geography. A special highlight was their artistic contribution – they painted two of our school walls, giving them a completely new look. And in the end, they gave us an even greater gift: each of them decided to become a sponsor (godmother) to one of our girls!

We also wanted them to experience the authentic pulse of Indian-Bengali culture. We organized cooking lessons, Bengali language classes, mehendi and alpana drawing sessions, showed them how to wear a sari, and much more. Afternoons were spent walking through the village and visiting the children’s homes, where they could gain a closer insight into the everyday life of the local community.

It was a wonderful experience, full of laughter, creativity, and heartfelt moments. We are already looking forward to seeing them again!
