Who We Are

Piali Ashar Alo, founded in 2008 in Piali village near Kolkata, brings hope to children and families facing extreme challenges. We provide education, care, and opportunities for holistic development, especially for children from underprivileged families.

Our Programs

Academic Learning

  • Bengali, English, mathematics, science, and social studies

  • Bilingual education introduced in all subjects

Creative & Music Classes

  • Drawing, singing, dancing

  • Learn musical instruments: violin, harmonium, guitar

  • Builds confidence, teamwork, and emotional expression

Social & Emotional Learning (SEL)

  • Understanding emotions, empathy, resilience

  • Strengthening relationships and self-confidence

  • Helps teachers connect deeply with each child

Garden & Sustainability

  • Grow fruits and vegetables with the children

  • Teaches responsibility, nutrition, and environmental care

Health & Nutrition

  • Daily warm meals and monthly hygiene kits

  • Medical support and regular health camps

Girls & Boys in Junior Classes

  • Boys now included in junior classes to promote communication and collaboration

  • Special attention for children with additional needs

Community & Women’s Programs

  • Sewing, hairdressing, craft workshops

  • Adult literacy, basic math, vocational training

  • Microloan access for small business development
