Reflections from Our UK Student Volunteer

My time at Piali Ashar Alo was an incredibly fulfilling experience. In spite of the vast language barrier, I had the opportunity to develop close bonds with the students, teachers, and friends from the village. Everyone was so welcoming, and I felt truly immersed in life in the village. While it was certainly a big change from my upbringing in the city, I was able to gain skills which I will carry with me for the rest of my life, including communication and adaptability. It is wonderful to see how passionate each and every teacher is regarding the success of their students, and most of all I was blown away by the intelligence and resilience of the pupils themselves. They are all brimming with potential, and I know they will go on to do great things through the strong support of the school, which provides crucial opportunities.
